IMPLEMENTATION AND MONITORING OF THE POVERTY REDUCTION STRATEGY

The Sierra Leone Poverty Reduction Strategy is being implemented for a period of three years, 2005 - 2007.  As in the preparation stage of the document, the implementation has taken onboard all relevant stakeholders: the Government, Donors, Civil Society/NGOs, Local Councils and the communities. A report on the first year of implementation has been prepared and was presented at the last CG meeting held in Freetown on 29-30th November 2006. The report indicates overall that the country is on track with the implementation process.

With improved institutional setup for the implementation and the availability of the requisite capacity, it is expected that more results will be delivered in the year ahead.
