The Governance Reform Secretariat has been converted to the Public Sector Reform Unit headed by a Director for the purpose of coordinating the implementation of all public sector reform initiatives.

Monitoring and Evaluating the Implementation of Cabinet Conclusions/Decisions and other Government Initiatives

The Oversight and Monitoring Unit (OMU) has an Executive Director for the purpose of

  1. Beefing up the staff strength of the unit.

  2. Provide legal advice to the Minister of Presidential and Public Affairs on various policy legislations.

  3. Enhance the effective monitoring and evaluation of Government Initiatives throughout the country.

African Peer Review Mechanism
 

The APRM capacity building/sensitization workshops has commenced. Sensitization workshops on the APRM have been conducted in the northern, southern and eastern regions and arrangements are underway for the conduct of the APRM sensitization workshop for the Western Area, media sensitization and outreach and public launch and inauguration of the National Governing Council of the APRM by H.E. the President.
 

Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative

 

Sierra Leone has attained EITI Candidate status since 22nd February 2008. Arrangements are underway for the establishment of the EITI Secretariat.

 

Open Government Agenda

 

The Agenda has been added to the portfolio of this Ministry and arrangements are underway for the recruitment of staff that will implement the Open Government Agenda.
